Most cases of sudden death in healthy people is caused by ventricular fibrillation, which is a fatal arrhythmia or abnormal heart rhythm. Electrical shock is an essential tool to treat ventricular fibrillation. It is very important to use an AED as soon as possible since the survival rate decreases at a rate of 10% per minute.
